Retaining wall rebuild.
A little job in Jan 2018. A vehicle had backed into an earth retaining wall on the roadside and the client wanted it rebuilt.
Each wall seems to have its own complications. This one was a limited supply of stone to rebuild with. It was originally built quite shallow, by my standards anyway, and had no long ties into the earth-bank. The client had a few spare stones though and so it was possible to rebuild it a bit thicker and better packed. It was my first time with this very regional Bargate sandstone and it was quite nice to use. Spent a bit of time cleaning some of them up as there had been some lime mortar involved at some stages.
Before and after shots below.
